Making Truth a Matter of Personal Opinion

"The glorious charity of the present day is such, that it believes lies to be as good as truth; and lies and truth have met together and kissed each other; and he that telleth truth is called a bigot, and truth has ceased to be honourable in the world!". Those words of Charles Spurgeon apply to our postmodern time perhaps even more than his era.

Christians who hold to the truth and hold up the truth will be attacked by being marginalized, maligned, misquoted, misinterpreted, misrepresented, and mistreated by those who profess to be Christians. The more you stand for the truth the more severe the above persecution will become, even when you do it in love.

So how do we go about really protecting ourselves in this day and age when truth is relative and words don't seem to matter? How can we protect ourselves from the modern worldly approach of being vague, unclear, and lacking in conviction, all in the name of tolerance and unity? That's important because scripture constantly makes definitive distinctions between the good and the bad, the true and the false, the genuine and the counterfeit. Today's statements of faith try to simulate unity, but end up making it difficult for anyone to even realize when they have dangerously wrong beliefs. More about that in this short video clip:
